The inspiration for making this elephant stems from my interest in creating metalwork with repurposed metal. I also firmly believe that we are responsible for making a conscious effort to preserve all species of living things so far as we are able. When making this elephant, I started by creating a wire frame for the overall outline, and then began to cover the stomach with spoons, working my way out. Perhaps the most fun part of the project was making the ears from the knives and figuring the best way to attach them to the body.
