This chalk pastel drawing is of a betta fish. I drew a close up view of the fish to provoke viewers to think about what the drawing is representing. Initially, you see the bright colors, but after a second glance your eye moves down the piece and discovers the scales. The purpose of omitting the head of the fish was to prevent revealing the subject of the composition at first glance.
