I used scratch board and hatching and cross hatching to create texture and value creating an image of an African bush elephant. These animals are endangered due to lost of habitat, poaching, and these animals are hunted for their ivory. Over the last decade almost 20% of elephants have been killed. These beautiful creatures are estimated to go extinct within the next one or two decades. to try and limit the killings of elephants, organizations have protected areas for them to live where poaching is not permitted. In my artwork i am showing the beauty of this animal by exhibiting the African Bush Elephant in its natural habitat in the tall grasses of sub-Sahara areas in Africa. I hope to bring the issue of mass poaching and extinction of this animal to view with my artwork. Elephants are an incredible animal that many people love, but without helping support the cause they will soon be extinct and out of our lives for good.
